A Study of Altered Concentrations of Plasma Fibronectin in Pregnancy Induced Hypertension

Abstract
Plasma fibronectin is a high molecular weight glycoprotein.
This plasma fibronectin may serve as an early indicator of endothelial cell damage in pregnancy induced hypertension.
So, plasma fibronectin appears to play an important role in diagnose and even predict the development of preeclampsia.
We measured plasma concentrations of fibronectin in 68 PIH patients using a rapid immunoturbidimetric assay and compared these values with 15 non pregnant and 20 normal pregnancy groups.
The mean plasma concentrations of fibronectin in non pregnant women, normal pregnant women and PIH group were 268¡¾74§¶/ml, 335¡¾84§¶/ml and 417¡¾113§¶/ml(p<0.05).
We concluded that plasma concentrations of fibronectin are higher in normal pregnant women than in non pregnant women and more increased in PIH groups than in normal pregnant women.
